Theatre Studio announces its 2008 Easter School Show12/01/2008
Theatre Studio, Gloucestershire's leading school of performing arts, has announced that the hit West End show, FAME – The Musical, will be their 2008 Easter School show. The production, which will open at the Playhouse Theatre on 12th April and run until 14th April, is set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street.
Easter School allows kids to get directly involved in all aspects of theatre: there are two courses open to anyone aged between 7 and 18 with a love of performance, as a well as a unique technical course for students with a flare for design, lighting, sound or set construction. This is the only course offered in Gloucestershire whereby students can learn the complex and exciting life that goes on 'behind the scenes'. Theatre Studio is now booking places on both the acting and backstage courses.
The courses will culminate with 5 public performances of FAME – The Musical – at 7:30pm every evening from Thursday 10th – Saturday 12th April, as well as matinee performances at 3:00pm on the 11th and 12th. Tickets are on sale now from the Playhouse Theatre Box Office on 01242 522852, and are priced £8 and £6 (concessions).

About FAME - The Musical
It all started with one man-- David De Silva, who, although he had no connection to New York's High School for Performing Arts, was endlessly fascinated by the institution, and the dedication and passion of the students there. De Silva, known as "Father Fame" conceived and developed the now classic 1980 film, as well as the television series, the reality show, and finally, the stage version of FAME - The Musical.
FAME become an international phenomenon, with productions in Spain, Australia, Japan, Poland, Hungary, Mexico and Korea, to name but a few.
The show has a book by Jose Fernandez, music by Steve Margoshes, lyrics by Jacques Levy and was conveived and developed by David De Silva. The title song was written by Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore.
The Theatre Studio production of FAME – The Musical is an amateur production by arrangement with JOSEF WEINBERGER LIMITED on behalf of MUSIC THEATRE INTERNATIONAL of NEW YORK.
